A Model for Early Childhood Education Management for Promoting Social and Emotional Skills at Private School in Bangkok

Abstract

Approaches to early childhood education management in the 21st century are ones that provide an important basis of human life especially in building social and emotional skills in children. This will benefit their education in a long run. As there are high competitions between public and private education institutions, an appropriate management model must be developed in line with the Thai national policy. The objectives of this study were to 1) investigate administrative factors based on the concept of inclusive and early childhood education management process affect early childhood education management; 2) develop a model of early childhood education management, and 3) assess the model. Qualitative data were collected by semi-structured interviews for model assessment from 7 experts and specialists. Quantitative data were collected by questionnaires. The research sample was school administrators, school managers and teachers, 291 in total. Data were analyzed by content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis. Results showed that factors of child preparation, environmental management, educational planning management, system and operation for learning experience, evaluation, managing and controlling organizations statistically affected early childhood education management at .001 level significance. There are 7 factors and 28 management strategies in establishing a model for early childhood education management. Results on assessment of the feasibility and usefulness of model application was at the highest level. Thus, this model can be used as a guideline for early childhood education management to promote social and emotional skills at private schools in Bangkok.
