Learning Achievement in Tourism Courses and Digital Technology Skills for Tourism through Peer-Assisted Learning and Field Study with Applied Software and Learning Applications
Main Article Content
Abstract
The teaching technique with the use of applied software and applications in tourism courses has the aim to equip students with skills in using digital technology in tourism. Upon graduation, they will possess the skills that meet the market needs in the tourism industry. Therefore, the curriculum incorporates applications of digital technology, such as using software to design travel routes, creating video clips, and developing promotional websites. Furthermore, current tourism trends increasingly rely on digital technology, especially the use of applications. Therefore, it is reasonable to incorporate software in both applied and integrated applications in tourism courses. This academic article presents techniques for teaching the use of applied software and applications in tourism courses using the peer-assisted learning method for teaching applied software, and real-world study tools for teaching with applications. The conclusions drawn from using the peer-assisted learning tool indicate a teaching and learning approach that helps students reduce anxiety when using software, narrows the gap between learners and instructors, and creates an engaging learning atmosphere. A key factor in this tool is the fellow students themselves. After graduation, students possess media design skills for tourism using the internationally standard software. Regarding the learning tools for field study, apart from visiting tourist attractions or actual locations, students will gain knowledge and see the importance of using applications at tourist destinations. In addition, they will also understand tourist behaviors in using the applications, which aligns with the development direction of the tourism industry that emphasizes tourism and promotes applications of digital technology.
