The Development of Strategic Management Model for Schools in the Next Decade under the Secondary Education Service Area Office, Nakhon Si Thammarat
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study focuses on developing a strategic management model for educational institutions in the next decade, particularly within the context of secondary education management. It employs a mixed-methods research approach using three phases. The first phase sought to examine the current state and success of strategic management in educational institutions using data collected from 14 administrators. The second phase aimed at developing a strategic management model for educational institutions in the next decade. This phase involved future research using the EDFR (Ethnographic Delphi Futures Research) technique, with 20 experts selected based on their knowledge and experience according to predefined criteria. In the last phase, focus group discussions were conducted with nine experts who were directly involved in strategic management for educational institutions. Semi-structured interview questions and questionnaires were used in data collection. The study revealed the need for different management structures which are suitable for various contexts. It also identifies issues in applications of relevant information and a shortage of skilled personnel. The proposed strategic management model comprises five key components: internal and external environment analysis, vision and organizational direction, strategy formulation and implementation, strategy evaluation and control, and strategy improvement. The model has been evaluated for appropriateness and feasibility, with recommendations for further improvement. It serves as a potential guideline for effective strategic management in schools under the Secondary Education Service Area Office Nakhon Si Thammarat in the coming decade.
