Main Article Content
Abstract
The administrative skills of school administrators are an important mechanism for driving change and achieving the goals set. The ability of administrators is related to the progress and effectiveness of the school. This study aimed to investigate the administrative skills of school administrators, school effectiveness, and the relationship between their administrative skills and school effectiveness under the Nakhon Si Thammarat Primary Education Service Area Office 3. The sample consisted of 143 schools under the Nakhon Si Thammarat Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 that participated in the sixth-grade national test of the academic year 2022. The sample size was determined by applying Yamane’s formula with a 95% confidence interval. It was then obtained through proportional stratified random sampling based on school size, and through simple random sampling by drawing lots. Three head teachers were selected from each school as informants. The research instrument was a five-point rating scale questionnaire with the IOC ranged between 0.60 – 1.00 and the overall coefficient alpha of .983. The statistics used for data analysis comprised mean, percentage, standard deviation and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The results revealed that 1) the administrative skills of school administrators in overall and all aspects were found at good levels, and 38.47% average national test score was achieved. There was a highly positive relationship (r = .734) between the administrative skills of school administrators and the school effectiveness with a significance level of .001. Findings indicate that administrative skills are positively correlated with school effectiveness, explaining 53% of the variance in effectiveness. This insight is vital for enhancing the management skills of school administrators and promoting school performance and educational quality.
