Abstract

There are various online media for disseminating and promoting local food information, but there is still no medium for disseminating local food information in Upper Northeastern Cluster 1. This research aims to: survey information related to local food, needs and presentation models in the Upper Northeastern Cluster 1, Thailand, design and develop an information system to disseminate local food, 3) evaluate quality and usability of the system. The sample group comprised 10 experts in technology and Information Systems, 30 information system administrators from each province, and 400 users from each of the 5 provinces. Surveys, questionnaires, and the Information System developed using PHP language with a MySQL database, were used as the research instruments. Statistics were employed in data analysis including percentage, mean, and standard deviation (SD). It was found that conducting field visits to Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, and Bueng Kan provinces to survey and gather information could guide for designing and developing a system that meets the local needs. This includes presenting information on local food and restaurants, public relations news, tourist attractions, accommodations, and general information of each province. Results of the quality assessment from experts, satisfaction assessment from both the system administrators and users were at the highest level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 4.61, S.D = 0.50; gif.latex?\bar{x} = 4.35, S.D = 0.62; gif.latex?\bar{x} = 4.25, S.D = 0.74), respectively. The developed Information System enables easy access for individuals who are interested in local food and helps preserve it for Upper Northeastern Cluster 1.
