Anan Ganjanapan’s Academic Life: Anthropology of an Anthropologist in Thailand

In this article, I propose to see Anan Ganjanapan as a professional anthropologist who was trained in a Western pedagogic tradition. Nevertheless, when he returned to homeland, as a trained anthropologist, he has had to struggle with academic life in Thai university system, which requires him to work both as a lecturer and a researcher in the Thai academic context. In order to show this, the article divides its presentation into three sections, namely (1) a biographical sketch of Anan Ganjanapan, (2) his way to be a professional anthropologist, and (3) the postscript, which is to locate Anan Ganjanapan in the academic landscape of anthropology in Thailand.
