บทคัดย่อ

The Thai word [thi:] is known to have a very interesting property-being able to occupy more than one linguistic function : In this work, [thi:] –element was studied for its two important aspects : its different values and functions in general, and its functions as markers of three types of subordinate clauses: relative, complement, adverbial. Different values and functions of [thi:] , as well as others subordinate markers such as [sin], [an], [wa:], [haj], [phia:wa:] , etc. are analysed linguistically. It is evident that this study like the studies of the universality, as well as the particularity of any natural language will contribute to the progress of language teaching (native and foreign). The study of semantic component is as important as the study of the syntactic one since Thai is a non-inflectional language.
