Abstract

The Covid-19 crisis affected the domestic economy because the country's economy primarily depends on the return of foreign tourists. The hospitality business has been markedly affected by the preventive measures associated with COVID-19, causing businesses to lose revenue, resulting in layoffs among hotel and restaurant workers due to the economic uncertainty. This led to internal labor migrants during the COVID-19 outbreak. Due to the volatility of the crisis, this study interviews 34 internal migrants from hotel and restaurant businesses about the concept of sufficiency economy during the crisis. Through the qualitative analysis of the interview data, the results reveal that most internal migrants viewed the concept of sufficiency economy in relation to making money, spending money wisely, spending responsibly and sustainable consumption. It is considered as resilience to ease the pressure caused by volatility and uncertainty during the crisis.
