Abstract

This Research, Democratic Ideology of the New Democratic
Movement: Constructivism Concepts, aimed to study Democratic
Ideology of the New Democratic Movement and to study Social change
by Constructivism concepts to gather definition new democratic
movements. This research was qualitative research. The research
instrument was in - depth interview from 19 Members of the new
Democratic Movement.
The results of the study showed that, Democratic Ideology of
the New Democratic Movement, It consists of six principles:
1. popular sovereignty 2.human right 3.reason and toleration 4.majority
rule 5. Consent 6. democratic process. In terms of social change the
study has shown that norms of class society and patronage system
hinder democracy. Because of these reasons, New Democracy
Movement wish to reconstruct society to be democratic society
through folkways and mores. New Democracy Movement distribute
knowledge kits, spread the truth, and oppose the state power in
correspondence with New Social Movement. This movement aims to
expand space for expressing political opinions, to impede the state
power, and to elevate a mindset of the people to be democratic.
Another result of the social change study shows that the groups of
people who disagree with National Peace and Order Maintaining
Council (NPOMC) have space to express their opinions, which drives out
fear in the people in the time that political movements are prohibited.
Democracy is still breathing and waiting for society making a difference.
