The objectives of the research were (1) to study the level of people’s participation in crime prevention, (2) to study factors related to people’s participation in crime prevention and (3) to study and compare the level of people’s participation in crime prevention in Chaiyapruek Police Station area, Nonthaburi province. The samples of this research is people in the Chaiyapruek Police Station area, Nonthaburi Province at 18,998 people. The sample size calculation was calculated by the G * Power, program with the stratified random sampling method in proportion to the population. The convenience sampling method was applied for the selection of samples. The study tool were analyzed by using Percentage and Mean, T-test, One-way ANOVA analysis, Fisher's Least Significance Difference (LSD) Pearson Correlation. In addition, the statistical significance value used in this analysis is set at 0.05.
The results of the study were as follow: (1) People in Chaiyapruek Police Station area, Nonthaburi participate in crime prevention at a moderate level in general. As individuals and families, people participate in crime prevention at a moderate level as well. (2) However, factors for better participation is that people should be able to provide details or description of valuable assets and take pictures of every item. (3) In community, people participate in crime prevention at moderate level. Therefore, the public should be able to perform surveillance duty in the community and should attend meetings with neighbors to provide useful ideas and suggestions for preventing and resolving crime and should participate in blowing whistles in order to arrest offenders such as gambling and burglaries. In aspect of cooperation with police, people participate at a moderate level.
Therefore, they should be able to inform the details of suspected one’s vehicle and should participate in cooperate with police officers in order to maintain public order during various festivals.
