Samples used were 240 Buddhist abbots in the Sangha Administrative Jurisdiction. The instrument used for data gathering was questionnaire classified by socio-economic characteristics of the respondents/ their opinions on the Buddhist abbots and model for the development of leadership attributes. As for the analysis of data, they were carried out by computer program and the statistics used were descriptive analysis, percentage, mean, standard deviation and multiple regression.
It was found from the study that:
1. Overall of leadership attributes were at a high level. Individually, they could be ranked from high to low as follows: virtue and ethics ranked first, followed by academic leadership, administration and personality, in that order.
2. Overall abbot’s activities were also at a high level. Individually, utilities ranked first, followed by religious learning, propagation and administration, respectively.
