Teacher Competencies and Challenges in Educational Management in the Era of Artificial Intelligence

Abstract

   This academic article aims to analyze and synthesize the essential competencies required of teachers to address the challenges of educational management in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), which has transformed teachers’ roles from knowledge transmitters into learning designers and facilitators. The article employs a documentary review and an integrative synthesis of relevant literature, concepts, theories, and studies concerning teacher competencies and educational management in the digital era, drawing on both international perspectives and the Thai educational context.

   The synthesis reveals that essential teacher competencies in the AI era can be categorized into five domains: 1. digital and artificial intelligence literacy, 2. higher-order thinking skills, 3. active learning management competency, 4. ethics and values competency, and 5. lifelong learning competency. In addition, the analysis identifies key challenges in educational management in the AI era, including digital inequality, ethical risks associated with the use of technology, and limitations in teacher readiness and institutional support systems. This article presents a synthesized conceptual framework that serves as a knowledge base for teacher competency development, educational management, and educational policy formulation, supporting effective and sustainable responses to societal changes in the era of artificial intelligence.
