A Studying of the Relationship between the Supervision Behavior of Mentor Teachers and the Work Efficiency of Teaching Students in Educational Institutions, Faculty of Art Education, Bunditpatanasilpa Institute

Abstract

   This survey research aims to assess the level of mentor teachers' behavior in educational institutions and examine its relationship with the work efficiency of teaching interns. The study also seeks to develop a predictive equation for mentor teachers' behavior and the work efficiency of teaching interns. The samples were 106 students who participated in teaching practicum in educational institutions, Faculty of Art Education, Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, Semester 2, academic year 2023. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed data by using mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s coefficient.

   The results showed that: 1. the behavior of mentor teachers, overall, was at a high level. The behaviors with the two highest mean scores included being a role model and promoting the development of professional skills and experiences. The two behaviors with high scores included the ability to manage learning and behavior in giving good advice and suggestions; 2. mentor teachers' behaviors that had a statistically significant relationship at the .05 level with the work efficiency of teaching interns included: behavior in promoting the ability to manage learning, behavior in providing guidance and constructive feedback, behavior in serving as a positive role model, and behavior in supporting the development of professional skills and experience, and 3. the predictor variable that could help collectively forecast the work efficiency of teaching interns was the behavior of supporting the development of professional skills and experience, with statistical significance at the .05 level. This variable could predict 19% of the variance in work efficiency, regardless of other variables, with a prediction error of 0.41. The relationship could be expressed in the form of raw and standardized score equations as follows:
