Abstract

The objective of this article is to present the administration of public transportation in the United Kingdom which is responsibled by local transport authority in each area. The author is convinced that the study of the UK's practice would be a lesson for Thai local government body in order to find a proper way to play its new role given by the provision of the Constitution to administer public transportation within its authority.


This article is divided into three parts. The first part gives an overview of local transport authority of the U.K. The second part introduces organizations which deal with public transportation administration. The final part presents the law relating to public transportation in U.K. which is the Transport Act 2000.
