Principle of Universality

Abstract

When we mention the state of “Being Universal or The Principle of Universality”, Thai academic society or Thai society usually perceives it as advancement from western countries. This article compared the Universality with Buddhist principle. The finding showed that the true Universality of Buddhism is different from the Principle of Universality of the West.The Buddhist principle is comprised of three universalities: 1) human universality, 2) love universality, and 3) truth universality. In addition, the universalities concerning law and human research were also analyzed. It was found that principles of respecting people, benefit, and justice are one root of Buddhist universality. When the Principle of Universality is clearly understood, human shall interact in a way that they support one another. This would result in the world of less social violence and of peace, at least, in the people’s mind.
