The Competency Developing of Monk’s Teaching Morality at School in Lampang Province

Abstract

             This research article is a mixed methods research, quantitative and qualitative approaches, and aims to develop the potentials of moral teaching monks of schools in Lampang province who lacked knowledge about making lesson plan, teaching techniques and preparing and using instructional media and information technology.

            The study found that, in overall perspective, there were problems of training, preparing and using instructional media, lack of teaching techniques and using information technology. The problems caused students not enthusiastic in the contents of Buddhism subject. Regarding the potential development of Lampang schools’ moral teaching monks, the overall results were rated in the moderate level in all aspects.

            The author suggests that the potential development methods of Lampang schools’ moral teaching monks should be developed as follows. Firstly, for a training session, “Ideal Monk” qualification regulations should be established to ensure the concrete development of teaching monks, clear teaching system and supports from relevant agencies. Secondly, for an teaching, experts and specialists should take part in producing teaching handbook systematically and provide knowledge of making instructional media, teaching techniques and using information technology that satisfies students requirements. Lastly, for development, the performance of moral teaching monks should be supported for effective results and development of moral learning students. This ultimate goal aims to ensure that students broaden their knowledge and more students are able to pass the Dhamma scholar examinations for elementary, intermediate and advanced levels.
