Organ Transplantation-Related Laws

This academic article studied human organ transplantation and found that the original thought based on donation or giving without compensation. It was ethical expression of donators for fellowmen. Thus, each country’s enacted law aims to manage the human organ transplantation with nonprofit purpose. As the number of donated organs is small and insufficient for those waiting for organ transplantation, it triggers human organ smuggling and illegal organ transplantation.
It has been 50 years since the first successful organ transplantation in Thailand, but the law determining clear donation and organ transplantation principles is not available. Organs for transplantation go short. There are no laws against human organ smuggling and illegal organ transplantation for wrongdoers’ punishment.
Therefore, to promote the organ transplantation, Thailand should enact the law concerning donation and organ transplantation to implicate and punish those acquiring organs with other illegal methods including buying organ.
