Participation of OTOP Tourism Community Project Committee in Surat Thani Province

Abstract

This research aims to study the guidelines for developing the participation in OTOP tourism community project development in Surat Thani Province. This research is mixed research. The quantitative research population included 360 community committee including 191 samples selected by the two-stage cluster sampling. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, standard deviation and qualitative research. The group discussion was conducted for 9 community committee members selected by the specific method and content analysis.

The research showed that the participation in thinking and decision-making was at a low level because the project policy was established from the top-down hierarchical structure. As a result, the community was less involved. The participation in action and practice was at a high level. Communities and government and private agencies were involved in the project activities. The participation in benefit was at a high level. The community was known for having more tourists, a circular economy and income in the community. The participation in evaluation was at a low level because the communities had less participation in the evaluation and only certain groups of people or leaders were involved in the evaluation.

The author suggested that the efficient and effective participation of the OTOP Tourism Community Committee in Surat Thani Province Efficient should be carried out according to the model obtained from the synthetic analysis of the project members according to the 3 CP-LIKE theory consisting of 1. Creativity. 2. Coordination 3.Continuity 4. Policy 5. Leadership 6. Identity 7. People Empowerment and 8. Knowledge.
