Academic Management of Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy According to the Concept of Military Leadership Attributes and National Security in 21st Century

Abstract

This mixed methods research was aimed to 1) the conceptual framework of academic management,military leadership attributes, and national security in 21st century 2) study the current and the desirable states of academic management of Chulachomklao Royal Military Academic according to the concept of Military leadership attributes and national security in 21st century. There were four groups of informants as follows: 1) administrators, 2) lecturers, 3) cadets, and 4) unit commanders from every army regions. The research instruments included synthetic sheets, an evaluation form on the conceptual framework and questionnaires. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and content analysis.


The research results are summarized as follows:


  • The conceptual framework of academic management consists of three elements which are 1) curriculum development, 2) instructional management, 3) academic evaluation and report. (2) the conceptual framework of military leadership attributes comprises of 8 attributes and most of them leads towards innovative leadership approach. (3) the conceptual framework ofnational security includes of 10 elements and most of them gears towards non-traditional security line.

  • The current situation of academic managementaccording to the concept of military leadership attributes and national security in 21st century is at high level in overall and in ranging order are curriculum development, instructional management, and academic evaluation and report,respectively; but the academic evaluation and report is at moderate level. The desirable state of academic management according to the concept of military leadership attributes and national security in 21st century when considering in overall and in each element, is at the highest level. However, among those in highest level when considering in ranging order curriculum development and academic evaluation and report, respectively. The sub-element which is at the lowest level in current condition is innovative creation ability while the delegation of authority is at the least in desirable condition. Obviously, loyalty to the Monarchy is at highest level for both current and desirable condition.
