Experience in Applying “King’s Philosophy” to Library Work

Abstract

The concept of Applying "King's Philosophy" to the work of the National Assembly Library of Thailand began with the research on “Continuing the King's Philosophy to Create the Value of Knowledge Acquisition of the National Assembly Library of Thailand”. This was studied in 2020 and its results was used to develop the work as proposed in 3 areas – the knowledge acquisition based on the sufficiency economy principles, creating the network of cooperation with nearby communities in terms of library knowledge acquisition, and organizing human library activities. During the COVID-19 crisis, the author also applied the King's philosophy to organizing seminars and online training, including collecting free knowledge sources for online services. All of this work did not use any budget and it was for the benefit of a country. In this article, we explained basic knowledge about King’s Philosophy (the meanings and methods of King’s Philosophy, King’s principles of work and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy), application of King’s Philosophy to the work of the National Assembly Library of Thailand, and research into practice including expanding the concept of continuing the King’s Philosophy with library work.
