Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) investigate the dropout problem among students, and

2) explore prevention strategies. The sample included 195 participants: administrators,

discipline heads, counselors, parents, and students from Utaradit Technical College, selected using purposive sampling and Taro Yamane's formula. Additionally, 21 experts, including administrators, discipline heads, guidance counselors, and teachers from the Utaradit Provincial Office of Vocational Education, were selected using purposive sampling. Research instruments included questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis employed mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The results showed: The study found that the causes of student dropout at Uttaradit Technology College, based on data from administrators, teachers, and parents, were most prevalent in the following areas: Family-related issues (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\bar{x} = 3.61). Student-related issues (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\bar{x} =  3.54). Data from students indicated that the most common reasons for dropout were: School-related issues (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\bar{x} = 2.99). Advisory teacher/Instructor-related issues (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\bar{x} = 2.99). The second most common issue was related to the teaching/learning process and curriculum (gif.latex?\fn_cm&space;\bar{x} = 2.88). Preventive Measures 1. Advisory teachers/instructors should guide students on time management to avoid missing classes and losing exam eligibility. 2. Educational institutions should provide support and advice to students on income generation and financial management. 3. Institutions should upgrade internet network equipment and increase access points. 4. Advisory teachers/instructors should engage in discussions to better understand students' issues. 5. Institutions should have staff to ensure students' safety. 6. Regular supervision of teaching should be conducted to evaluate and monitor if the teaching is in accordance with the curriculum.
