Comparative Analysis of Writing Skill in English and Thai

Abstract
This study provides a comparative analysis between the writing abilities in English and the ones in Thai. The collected data included the test papers written by the population of 100 English-related major students. This research can be highlighted by some differences and similarities found in writing skill between English and Thai test papers with respect to writing skill characteristics. Comparing essay and composition writing, the latter is with the lower score in this study. Moreover, the most observable finding in this study is syntax with the lowest rate characteristics for writing composition, either in English or Thai, across the employed sample. In conclusion, the findings of this study indicated that there is a problem with English writing ability of the chosen students in syntactic characteristics in their writing skill which might be due to the education planning or policy of their basic education providers or the related education provider center which they are studying in.
