Abstract

This research aims to 1) conduct an exploratory study on "cultural capital" that can be used as a resource to enhance the grassroots economy of the Kaad Kong Ta community, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province, and 2) create an online database on a website to promote and support community-based cultural tourism for the Kaad Kong Ta community, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province. The researchers applied spatial data and attribute data in the form of interactive web mapping. They utilized Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies to develop and present the data. A website was created by using MapHub, an open-source software for creating interactive maps, in conjunction with Google Sites web page.

The study on cultural capital found that the Kaad Kong Ta community has various potential aspects to promote and support cultural tourism, particularly the community's history, the history of architectural buildings, community activities, lifestyle, foods, accommodations, and shops. The presentation of research data is provided in two formats: online and offline. The online format is created as an online database on a website, presented in the form of text, images, videos, and interactive maps. The website's structure consists of five main menus: information on the history of the Kaad Kong Ta community, information on the old architectural buildings of the Kaad Kong Ta community, categorized location information, a map of prominent tourist attractions, and an activity calendar with videos related to the research project. Users can immediately select location information based on their desired category on the website. The offline format presents information in the form of maps and spatial data or Geographic Information System (GIS) data for use in local agency activities in the future.
