A MODEL OF STRENGTHENING QUALITY OF ELDERLY LIFE: A CASE STUDY OF SAMKHOK DISTRICT, PATHUMTHANI DISTRICT, PATHUMTHANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to study the living conditions of senior citizens and determine a model of strengthening quality of elderly life at family level as well as community level. The Mixed Methods Research between qualitative research and quantitative research in Samkhok District, Pathumthani Province. The study are as follows.

The status of quality of life for senior citizens in Samkhok District, Pathumthani Province had found that 1) Income: - The majority of the senior citizens still work to earn money by doing their own business as there is no security of income for them. 2) Social and Cultural: - The senior citizens are being neglected and involvement in social activities are at low level. 3) Health: - The majority of senior citizens are having congenital disease like heart disease, hypertension and diabetes. 4) Education: - The majority of senior citizens are uneducated which lead to lack of knowledge and ability to seek information to help themselves. 5) Welfare: - There are limitations and only the subsistence system from the government are being provided.

The system which match enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens comprise of 6 components of the system divided into 5 process for the quality of life and 1 for the conditions of success. There are:- 1) Health education process; 2) Analysis of capacity and demand process; 3) Planning process; 4) Project planning process under the conditions of  knowledge and moral 5) Sustainability process and 6) Understanding the context of the relevant interest.
