FACTORS INFLUENCING THE BEHAVIORS OF YOUNG ADULT PATIENTS WITH STROKE

The purpose of this descriptive study was to examine factors influencing health behaviors of young adult patients with stroke. Samples of the study were consisted of 88 of the stroke patient’s age between 18 – 59 years old. The data were collected using the demographic data record form, the stroke belief questionnaire, the stroke behavioral awareness questionnaire, and the health behaviors of young adult patients with stroke questionnaire. The reliability test was conducted by using Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient which were .80, .81, .80 respectively. Descriptive statistics and simple regression were used to analyze the data.
The results of the study showed that: (1) the belief related to stroke of the young patients with stroke were at high level. (Mean = 30.42, S.D. = .49). (2) The stroke behavioral awareness of the young patients with stroke were at high level. (Mean = 48.03, S.D. = .54). (3) The health behaviors of young adult patients with stroke were at low level. (Mean = 18.90, S.D. = .54). (4)The factors related to stroke belief, stroke health behavioral awareness were significant predictors of health behaviors among young adult patients with stroke accounted for 59.80 %. (R = .598, p < .01). Show that the health behavior of young stroke patients based on believe, and perceived health status of stroke patients.
