Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) to test the construct validity of grit scale for government teachers and education personnel, and 2) to develop the normative criteria for grit scale for teachers. The sample consisted of 421 secondary school teachers and educational personnel under Secondary Educational Service Area Office 1 and Office 2 in Bangkok. The research instrument used was grit scale. The statistics used included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, confirmatory factor analysis, and percentile. The research findings were as follows: 1) the construct validity of grit scale was consistent with empirical data (Chi-square = .907, df = 7, CFI = 1.00, SRMR = 0.000). 2) The normative criteria for overall grit revealed that scores of 35 and above indicate a high level of grit. Scores between 32 and 34 reflect a fairly high level of grit, scores ranging from 29 to 31 indicate a somewhat low level of grit, and scores below 29 represent a low level of grit.
