Abstract

The National Education Plan for the years 2560 – 2579 (B.E. 2017 – 2036) discusses the development of the efficiency of the educational management system within the 6th strategy. It emphasizes the importance of supervision in developing the teaching and learning management process. However, based on the results of the PISA assessment from the year B.E. 2543 (2000) to B.E. 2561 (2018), Thai students' competencies in reading, mathematics, and science have consistently declined. As a result, schools have to place importance on supervision to improve teachers' capabilities. One of the innovative supervision approaches is "Design Supervision" which consists of 5 steps: 1) Empathize: Understanding the needs of teachers and students 2) Define: Identifying and defining the issues or problems 3) Ideate: Generating creative ideas and potential solutions 4) Prototype: Creating a prototype or model of the proposed solution and 5) Test: Testing the prototype and gathering feedback for improvement. The benefits of the "Design Supervision" is in promoting a participatory approach to problem-solving in the teaching and learning process, fostering understanding and empathy among stakeholders. It aims to develop educational supervisors and teachers with a holistic problem-solving approach and a mindset of continuous learning and growth. This creates a conducive environment for constructive and responsive discussions, meeting the needs of the learners as a priority.
