Developing the ability to solve mathematics questions using inquiry-based learning together with KWDL techniques for grade 4th students

Abstract

This research article 1) Develop learning activities that promote problem-solving skills in mathematics using inquiry-based learning combined with the KWDL technique. 2) Compare the ability to solve mathematical problems after learning against a benchmark of 70%. 3) Study the satisfaction of Grade 4 students in primary school using inquiry-based learning combined with the KWDL technique. The sample for this research was selected through cluster sampling, consisting of 16 Grade 4 students from Ban Nong Pla Kheng-Ko Lai School, Semester 1, Academic Year 2024. The research instruments include 12 lesson plans, an assessment tool for problem-solving skills in mathematics (essay format), and a student satisfaction questionnaire using a 3-point Likert scale. The statistical methods used to analyze the data include mean, standard deviation, and one-sample t-test. The research results found 1) The results of the development of inquiry-based learning, the technique combined with KWDL for reinforcing the problem-solving consisting of 5 steps: 1) The athlete step, 2) The exploration step, 3) The discussion and conclusion step, 4) The knowledge expansion step, 5) The evaluation step of the soft criticism from the most observing experts.          2) The results of the study of comparison and solving mathematical puzzles after learning the inquiry-based learning model, combined with KWDL technique, of students in the spirit class from 4 onwards, resulting from the intensity of 70 at the .05 level. 3) The research study of students who have the most normal sources of inquiry-based learning, combined with KWDL technique.
