THE HOLISTIC HEALTH CARE OF THE ELDERS ACCORDING TO BUDDHIST CONCEPT IN HUA SAI SUB-DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, HUA SAI DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows 1) to study on holistic health care of elders according to Buddhist concept in Huasai sub-district municipality, Huasai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. 2) To study on guideline to promote holistic health care of elders according to Buddhist concept in Huasai sub-district municipality, Huasai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The quality and quantitative research were used for this research (mixed method). The population were elders who live in the area of Huasai sub-district municipality, Huasai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province for 822 persons, sample size by Taro Yamane formula, the samples were about 274 persons and scholars interview for study on guideline to promote on holistic health care of the elders according to Buddhist concept for 17 persons. The instrument for this research was questionnaire and interview form, the statistics were analysed as follows; frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and content analysis.

          The findings were as follows;

          1) The holistic health care of elders according to Buddhist concept in Huasai sub-district municipality, Huasai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province by overview was at more level (  = 3.99) when considered in each domain found that physical domain (Kaya Pawana) was the most level (  = 4.04) and followed up social relation domain (Sila Pawan) (  = 4.02) and mind condition (Jita Pawana) (  = 3.99) but wisdom domain (Panna Pawana) was the lowest mean (   = 3.91) when considered in terms of sexes, ages, degrees of education, previous careers elder, present careers and monthly incomes found that all were at more level.

          2) The guideline for holistic health care of elders according to Buddhist concept in Huasai sub-district municipality, Huasai district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province found that (1) the municipality should provide nurse specialist staffs for taking care of elders for all times, to be holistic care by health care planning according to the need and properly in the aspect of exercise, nutrition especially in private care of elders and non-movement elders. (2) The municipality should promote on elder club to have activities for helping elders to be better health both physical and mind with arrangement of yearly medical check-up, study tour within and without of province, listening sermon, Dhamma practice in holy day. (3) The municipality should promote for preparing of staff that are going to aging for acceptance and adaptation in situation of society, environment both physical and mind as happily in aging time.
