THE GUIDELINES FOR PREPARING A PERSON TO ENTER THE AGING SOCIETY

The objectives of this research were to study 1) aging society transition 2) the aging society transition had the influence on the efficiency of preparation and 3) guidelines to enhance the efficiency of preparation the person for entering an aging society. This research employed a mixed research methodology combining quantitative and qualitative methods. For the quantitative research part, the sample consisted of elderly persons of Nonthaburi province with a total of 300 individuals. The sample size was determined based on the criterion 20 times the observed variables. They were selected by proportional stratified sampling. Data were collected via the use of a questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive analysis and a structural equation model. As for the qualitative research component, in-depth interviews were conducted with 15 executives of related government departments. The research findings showed that: 1) economy and finance management, environment management were rated at the highest level. For aging society transition, the social value of person and efficiency of preparing a person for entering an aging society were rated at a high level, 2) aging society transition effects to the economy and financial management, environmental management. Economy and financial management affect environmental management, social value of person, and efficiency of preparation a person for entering an aging society. Environmental management affects the social value of a person, and the efficiency of preparation a person for entering an aging society. The social value of a person affects the efficiency of preparation a person for entering an aging society, and 3) guidelines for efficiency of preparation a person for entering an aging society found that individuals need to have pre-awareness and prepare themselves for health, financial, housing and occupation from working age. The public sector must manage and provide appropriate welfare for the elderly.
