THE CREATING AND DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE MEDIA FOR THE TRADITION OF ROCKET FESTIVAL

Abstract

This research paper aimed 1) to study knowledge and the tradition of rocket festival in Yasothon province. 2) to create innovative media about the tradition of rocket festival and 3) to develop innovative media and apply it to carry on the rocket festival. This study is a quantitative and qualitative research. The population of the study was 20,283 people, and the samples were 377 respondents. The quantitative data was collected using 377 sets of questionnaires, and in-depth interview was employed for 23 interviewees. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentages, mean scores, standard deviation, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Data was analyzed using statistical computer software. Qualitative data was analyzed using descriptive synthesis analysis methods.

Results showed that 218 respondents were females and 159 males, and most of them were between 41-50 years old who are agricultural workers with a bachelor's degree. The study of knowledge about culture and traditions for inheriting the tradition of rocket festival showed that knowledge about the rocket festival in 4 aspects had overall means at high level (  4.37) Results regarding the appropriateness of the content of innovative media showed that opinions on the appropriateness of the media production content were overall at a high level. (  4.28) Media production must be emphasized on 3 aspects which are      1) integrating the history of the rocket festival with current situations in animation media perfectly, 2) Contents in the animation media should promote ecotourism that connects to the ASEAN Community, and 3) mentioning the history of the rocket festival in animation media that is easily accessible and understandable.
