Abstract

This quantitative study aims to compare the public satisfaction towards policebefore and after the implementation of the Modern Police Stations Project. Data of public satisfaction towards police for service process, service personnel, and service facilities were collected by using questionnaires on 12,254 samples who were conveniently selected in 3 targeted police stations, namely Phasicharoen Police Station, Bangkaew Police Station, and Mueang Pattaya Police Station and 3 comparison police stations, namely Laksong Police Station, Bangsoathong Police Station, and Banglamung Police Station. Data collection was conducted at two stages, before and after the implementation of the project.

The results revealed significantly higher level of public satisfaction towards Bangkaew Police Station and Mueang Pattaya Police Station after the implementation of the project and in relation to the area of comparison (Bangsoathong Police Station and Banglamung Police Station). Meanwhile, the public satisfaction towards police in Phasicharoen Police Station after the implementation, although higher, was not significantly different from the before-implementation period in relation to the area of comparison (Laksong Police Station). It should be noted that only the overall public satisfaction towards police in only Bangkaew Police Station had reached the intended goal of the project (80 percent). Recommendations were made to improve police work in the field of service process, service personnel, and service facilities that had a level public satisfaction lower than 80 percent in each police station
