Abstract

Human Trafficking in Thailand is a major problem and needs to be solved urgently. It is particularly important as Thailand has beed placed in Tier 3 by the United States Departement of State in the Trafficking in Persons Report 2015 (TIP Report 2015), meaning that Thailand is considered to be a country with aseirous problem of human trafficking. As a consequence, Thailand took action immediately, including imposing urgent measures to tackle the problem. This led to the enactment and the passing of the Human Trafficking Suppression and Prevention Act( No.2) B.E. 2558. It was eventually promulgated in the Royal Gazette on April 28, 2015. The new anti-human trafficking law has amended certain provisions prescribed in its precursot (the Huamn Trafficking Suppression nad Prevention Act B.E. 2551). There are several interesting remars on the amended provisions. Therefore, the Human trafficking Suppression and PRevention Act (No.2) B.E. 2558 is worth examining since it would give us an insight into the essence of the law, which is a key for the effective law enforcement.
