A STUDY OF KNOWLEDGE LEVEL IN THE PERFORMANCE OF INVESTIGATORS UNDER THE METROPOLITAN POLICE BUREAU TO THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACT B.E. 2550

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study knowledge level of investigators towards the performance in accordance with the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550, and to study performance results based on the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550, by using qualitative research method. The sampling group was the investigators who had received knowledge training about the performance according to the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550 within the area of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, by using purposive sampling techinque. The tool used in this research was the interview, by conduction an in-depth interview with the entire sampling group. The data was presented by means of descriptive analysis. Research findings of the knowledge level of investigators in the performance according to the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550 showed that most of the investigators had knowledge in the second context level while there was only little implementation because the law will clearly specify the method of conduct and roles and responsibilities of each related party. However, in practice, the performers were still confused with the pattern of the mthod of conduct and their roles and responsibilities as a result of the lack of continuous public relations of the law, resulting in the population or victim not knowing about the channel to lawa acceessibility as well as advantages and disadvantages of their rights in receieving proteciton form this law. Additionally, they refused to use such law in case of any domestic violence. Moreover, domestic violence was the issue in which investigators avoided to use the law to solve such case. As a result, they still lack expertise in law enforcement. Therefore, the effective implementation of the Domestic violence Act B.E. 2550 would depend on the knowledge level in the performance in response to the purposes of the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550.

Recommendations from this study include: there should be female investigators at each station and officials who are responsible for the performance according to the Domestiv Violence Act B.E. 2550.

Recommendations from this study include: there should be female investigators at each station and officials who are responsible for the performance according to the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550 form Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in order to integrate work performance with police officers who are directly responsible for the cases relating to the Domestic Violence Act B.E. 2550; and there should be also be action knowledge training and the increase of number of the investigators who will be responsible for the performance in accordance with this Act.
