An Implementation of Business Self-Practicing Role-Play Animated Media to Promote Speaking Ability and Perceptions: A Case Study of Thai Business English Undergraduate Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigated the effectiveness of Business Self-Practicing Role-Play (BSPRP) animated media to enhance undergraduate EFL business students speaking ability and examined their perceptions of the instructional approach. This situation-based animated media was developed under the ADDIE instructional framework. The research participants consisted of 33 undergraduate EFL business students at a private educational institute located in Thailand who were selected through the convenience sampling method. This study employed the sequential embedded mixed method research design with a one-group pre-posttest model. The pre-posttest task was administered to collect quantitative data. Subsequent semi-structured in-depth interviews were used to gather qualitative data to survey the learners’ perceptions. The findings indicated that the use of BSPRP animated media potentially improved the students’ speaking abilities and that the instructional approach was perceived positively.
