Factors Related to Desired Behavior According to Code of Ethics of Teaching Profession of Secondary Teachers in Schools under the Office of Secondary Education Service Area 5

Abstract

This study aimed 1. to investigate the level of desired behavior according to code of ethics of teaching profession of secondary teachers in schools under the office of secondary education service area 5, 2. to examine the relationship between causal factors and desired behavior according to code of ethics of teaching profession of secondary teachers in schools. The samples were 340 teachers in schools under the office of secondary education service area 5 in 2017 academic year. The research instrument was a 5 – point Likert scale questionnaire. The reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha) of the questionnaire was found.96. Percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson product correlation coefficient were used for data analysis and critical values of r for the Pearson correlation coefficient employed for testing of significance. Results showed that overall desired behavior according to code of ethics of teaching profession of secondary teachers in schools were at the medium level (x = 3.40, S.D = 0.38). When considering each dimension, it was found that the desired behavior according the code of ethics of teaching profession of secondary teachers on self was holding at the highest level (x = 3.55, S.D = 0.34) with the highest mean score. The lowest mean score and holding medium level (x = 3.21, S.D = 0.92) was the desired behavior according to the code of ethics of teaching profession on co – professional teacher dimension. Personal factors on gender, age and married status were positively correlated at very low level to desired behavior according to the code of ethics of teaching profession of secondary teachers with no significance. (r = .105, .016 and .073) Education level and years of teaching experience were negatively at very low level with no significance (r= -.072 and -.039). School size was medium negatively correlated at .01 significance level (r = -.489)
