Factors Influencing Knowledge and skill Development in Profession of Students for Asean Community: A Case Study of Kasetsart University.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were as follows. Firstly, to study the personal factors, knowledge of ASEAN community, life skills, social support, and self development of students studying in professions with ASEAN community need, secondly, to analyze the influence of knowledge of ASEAN community, life skills, social support, and self development of students studying in professions with ASEAN community need. The data were collected from 1,200 students studying in professions with ASEAN community need. The research instrument was the questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using statistical methods, including percentages, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results had the following conclusion. Firstly, the students’ life skills, social support, and self development were at the rather high level while knowledge of ASEAN community was at the medium level Secondly, The results from Stepwise method multiple regression analysis indicated that the independent variables that could predict self development of students studying in professions with ASEAN community need included ability to use the language, social support from university dimension in information support, life skills dimension in self awareness skills, social support from the university dimension in appraisal support, life skills dimension in problem-solving skills, social support from family in information support, social support from family in emotional support, and life skills in interactive skills had influences on self development of students studying in professional ASEAN community need at the statistical significance level of .05, and could predict it at 41.5 percents (R2 = .415)
