Abstract

PURPOSES: To diagnosis misconceptions in mathematecs on linear equations and inequalities in one variable among of Matthayom Sueksa Four students. METHODS: A test from a sample of 319 students in Matthayom Sueksa Four under the jurisdiction of office of Higher Education Commission, Bangkok Metropolis. RESULTS: The students exhibited misconceptions in the use of mathematical symbols, misconstructed theorems, rules, formulae, definitions, and properties, as well as deficiency in grasping operational steps and incorrectly summarizing answers. CONCLUSIONS: There were misconceptions in the study of linear equations and linear inequalities in one variable particularly in grasping theorems, rules, formulae, definitions, and properties.
