The objectives of this research were to study and compare the wordings, speeches, and figures of speech used in the literature novel and TV series, in the case of “Phu Di Isan” by Varangkana. It was revealed that the literature novel used words to express emotions, feelings, movements, touch, tastes, smells, lights, and colors. As far as speech was concerned, five types of speech, namely exposition, description, simile, argumentation, and narration were found. In terms of figures of speech, five figures namely simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, and metonymy were expressed. There were differences in the use of expressions in the novel and the TV scripts that in the novel specific expressions were used to describe smells, lights, and colors. Substances describing color, adjectives describing colors, and repeated expressions used for describing colors, exposition, and metonymy were not found in the TV scripts. The characteristics of the wordings, speeches, and figures of speech were similar. Dissimilarities were found in terms of some amendments or additions to the TV scripts and the use of visual effects or technical applications to attract TV audiences.
