Toward public policy on the promotion of medical hub in Thailand

PURPOSES: To study public policy for promotion of complete cycle medical industry and medical hub in Thailand as well as relevant government policies and obstracles. METHODS: Documentary research, in-depth interview and focus group discussion. RESULTS: Even though the public policies on medical hub promotion was set in National Strategic Plan, 13^th Economic and Social Plan, and Tourism Promotion Plan, there were still some obstacles on cooperation among government agencies, no clear rule for operation and lack of necessary law for herb protection, promotion of medicine production and promotion of medical devices production THEORETICAL/POLICY IMPLICATIONS : The Government was suggested to set policy to protect Thai herb, correct rules and law that obstruct medicine production in the country, set measures to promote medical device production and enact law on telemedicine as well as law to support foreign investment on medical hub.
