Development of Youths’ Immunity Drug Prevention in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province through Transformative Learning

Abstract
The development of the quality of the youth to develop both mental and intellectual development in the prevention of drugs, youths’psychological immunity drug prevention is a good tool for young people to protect themselves from being at risk of drug abuse. The purposes of this research were: 1) to develop youths’psychological immunity drug prevention in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province through transformative learning that use critical participatory action research and 2) to synthesize the knowledge from the research to be guideline for develop youths’psychological immunity drug prevention, using critical participatory action research methodology. The samples for study were 120 vocational students in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The research instruments were development youths’ psychological immunity drug prevention activities, critical self-reflection and critical discourse. Analyze qualitative data by analyzing inductive summary. The results were as follows: 1) the development of youths’ psychological immunity drug prevention in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province can lead to reasonable action of youth. The important process that helps support were activities of transformative learning as follows: establishing a democratic of communication, building positive emotions, open mind, behavior modification, positive reinforcement including prompting, and 2) knowledge derived from the synthesis of developing youths’ psychological immunity drug prevention consisted of: (1) internal factors, which refer to youths’changing belief in drug abuse, morale in changing students’self; and (2) external factors, which refer to group discussion with friends-to-friend relationships will help the youth conduct themselves in their conduct to reduce the risk of drug abuse. The results of this study, institution are able to apply this finding in their activities of the learning process to change and help modify behavior that is at risk of drug abuse resulting in further awareness of student behavior change.
