Attitude and Chatting behavior on Smartphone of Generation Y

The objective of this research is to explore the demographic distribution of Generation Y in regard to their attitudes and behaviors towards chatting on smartphones. A sample of 400 people comprised of 217 males (54.3%) and 183 females (45.8%). The research found that there was no significant correlation between sex and the objectives of chatting in terms of study, business and other general topics. Meanwhile, sex and chatting about gossips and love affairs were significantly correlated at 0.05 level, particularly among females. Different age groups showed no difference regarding the objectives of chatting on smartphones in terms of study, business and other general topics. However, the age group of 26-30 years old revealed a significant correlation between age and chatting about gossips. Overall, the research found that the demographic distribution of Generation Y correlated significantly with attitudes and chatting behaviors on smartphones at 0.05 level.
