The Public Service Motivation Level of Local Administrative Organization Officials in Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the public service motivation level of Local Administrative Organization officials. The quantitative survey research method was used with questionnaires as the tools of data collecting from a sample group of 310 officials of Local Administrative Organizations in Khon Kaen Province including the City Municipalities, Town Municipalities, Sub-district Municipalities and Sub-district Administrative Organizations. The statistics used were percentage, mean and standard deviation analysis. The findings showed that the local officials in Khon Kaen Province possess the highest public service motivation level (= 5.28). The results of comparing the level of public service motivation showed that local officials affiliated with different types of local administrative organizations have different levels of public service motivation at the significant level of 0.01. Therefore, to promote public service motivation level among officials in various types of administrative organizations, the local authorities must integrate the concept of public service motivation into the human resource management and the local strategic plan.
