Guidelines for interpretation of Ban Laem community tourism attractions in Bang Pla Ma District, Suphanburi Province

Abstract

This research objectives are; 1) to study tourist attraction activity resources in Baan Laem community, Bang Pla Ma District, Suphanburi Province; 2) To clearly understand target tourists and community insights in order to develop effective communication plans and tools for Baan Laem tourist attractions and 3) To propose communication concept (ideas, plans, and methods) design to be publicly used in tourist attractions in Baan Laem community.

This research is a mixed method research, conducted with qualitative and quantitative methods. The quantity method was survey with questionnaires to 97 Thai tourist respondents. Sample size recruited with convenient random method. The qualitative method was focus group interview (in-dept interview) upon resources specified questions. The qualitative respondents were 12 stakeholders in Baan Laem community. The research result was analyzed with induction method and content analysis. We used triangulation method, to confirm the precision of the interviewed data. The research shows that the significant activity resource is a unique recreational activity. The uniquely attractive recreational activities in Baan Laem are; Baan Thoop Yok birthday colour, Baan Thak Traka Mai Yee Pun, Baan Cha Toey Hom and Boat trip The research result also shows that the tourists insights upon a community communication tools are 1) Tourist brochure consisting of recommended attractions and activities in the community, touring map; 2) communication banners; and 3) QR code. The researcher would like to propose communication model by using main communication concept through English alphabets. The English alphabets with “Meaningful Visiting Experience” concept is LEAM MODEL. (L: Learning, E: Explain, A: Active Participate, M: Meaning) The LEAM Model will be used to develop recreational activities communicate ideas and tools. This development will be a community co-operative activity and, definitely, it will be a community sustainability for Baan Laem community, Ampur Baang Pla Ma, Supanburi Province.
