The Democratic Principle and the Public Participation

Public participation was a universal principle that was recognized as important and necessary in a democratic society. The constitutional law, which was the country's supreme rule, reflected the intention of promoting public participation clearly. In addition, government management reformation under the concept of management under participation, which focused on public participation to enable the people to participate in management, since the process of inspection of the use of state powers, the freedom to express opinion or expression on various matters, to let the government realized the problems and needs of the people, can really solve the problems directly, which led to people's strengthening. In the case of Thailand, public participation was an important issue. The intention in this regard could be first seen in the first Constitution and in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2560 (2017), which was the current one that grants various rights such as the right to participate in politics, the right to participate in inspections, the right to freedom of expression and decision-making, etc. Hence, it could be said that democratic principles and people's participation were things that should be developed together in Thai society. This was considered as an important principle in promoting continuity and sustainability of democracy
