Development of School Curriculum in the Foreign Language Subject Area (English) Based on a Framework for 21st Century Learning

The objectives of this research were 1) to develop the school curriculum in the foreign language subject area (English) Based on a Framework for 21st Century Learning and 2) to evaluate the school curriculum in the foreign language subject area (English) based on a Framework for 21st Century Learning. The populations used in this research were elementary school students at Wat Chalor School under the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization. The samples were 40, grade 1 students purposively selected. The curriculum was implemented in the 2nd semester of the academic year 2018. The data were analyzed by mean, standard deviation and content analysis. The results of the research were 1) the school curriculum in the Foreign Language Subject Area (English) based on a framework for 21st Century learning consisted of the curriculum objectives, curriculum structure, course description, content structure, learning time allotment, and unit plan for grade 1-6 students 2) After using the school curriculum in the Foreign Language Subject Area (English) based on a framework for 21st Century learning, the result revealed that students’ English language skills were 85.30 percentages at a good level in all aspects. The order of each aspect ranked from the highest to the lowest, there were listening, writing, reading, and speaking. The 21st Century skills which consisted of life and career skills, learning and innovation skills, and information, media, and technology skills were at a good level in all aspects. The evaluation of teachers’ opinions toward the school curriculum were at the most appropriate level and the evaluation of students’ opinion toward the school curriculum was at the most agreeable level.
