Approach of Skill Development for Professional Teachers on 21st Century

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1. to study the approach for being professional teachers in Nakhon Pathom province; 2. to study factors for developing professional teacher skills on the 21st century in Nakhon Pathom province and 3. to propose approach for developing professional teacher skills on the 21st century in Nakhon Pathom province.  This research deployed mixed method consisting of qualitative research by studying in the field by which the data were collected through in-depth interviews and quantitative research that the data were collected by questionnaires. The samples used in the research were 339 school teachers under the Office of the PAD, 9 Area, Nakhon Pathom province. The tool was used as a 5-level evaluation questionnaire and an open-ended questionnaire with a confidence value of 0.895. The obtained data were analyzed by using a program for research with the used of statistics namely Frequency, Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation to compare the mean of opinions by using T-test to test the difference between two groups of mean and F-test to compare the difference between three or more groups and to analyze one-way variance together with comparing the differences between the pairs with the least significant difference method by setting statistical significance at the level of 0.05. The results of the research work were as follows: 1) Approach for being professional teachers in Nakhon Pathom province: teachers’ skill have been developed to enter into high-performing professions because teachers have to develop learners to be able to face situations both now and, in the future, 2) Factors for developing professional teacher skills on the 21st century in Nakhon Pathom province classified by personal status: there were similar opinions based on gender, age, educational background, and income. 3) Approach of skill development for professional teachers on the 21st century in Nakhon Pathom province: there were 5 aspects in which the approach for the development of teachers’ skill from opinions were technical and modern technology, and the analytical and creative aspects had the highest level of opinion. The second was the building and the integration of available knowledge. The last aspect was the strength in the code of ethics, moral, being visionary and crystallized, respectively.
