This article investigates a dialectical relation between Nationalist ideology and economic development in Myanmar within a context of regional development. It explores through Myanmar’s a participation in the Great Mekong Sub-region as a riparian country. The article begins with Myanmar and the Great Mekong Sub-region, followed by a consequence of Burmese nationalist ideology, mechanized by the Burmese Junta government, on economic development. In conclusion, this article discusses the Junta government’s policy on economic development, as warfare machinery, and its impacts on regional development in the Mekong region.
