Abstract

Postcode is a series of letters and/ or digits appended to a postal address. It is fundamentally a tool of postal service and was developed for purposes of facilitating the delivery of mail. They are called different things in different countries and vary somewhat in detail form. Most countries now use them not only to speed the delivery of mail but also to describe the position or location of places and areas. Postcodes have been adopted for a wide range of purposes. This paper presents history of postcode, structure, its applications and postcode system in different countries including Thailand.
