บทคัดย่อ
บทความนำเสนอมิติความรุนแรงในงานเขียนของ จอร์จ บาทายล์ (Georges Bataille) บทความมีข้อเสนอหลักว่าความรุนแรงของบาทายล์ไม่ใช่ความรุนแรงเชิงกายภาพ บาทายล์ไม่ได้เสนอความรุนแรงที่สัมพันธ์กับอำนาจของรัฐสมัยใหม่และเพื่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงรัฐสมัยใหม่ เช่น สงคราม การฆ่าสังหารหมู่ การปฎิวัติ เป็นต้น หากแต่ความรุนแรงของบาทายล์สัมพันธ์กับการเปลี่ยนแปลงอัตตาของมนุษย์ ซึ่งก่อนที่อัตตาของมนุษย์จะเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงได้นั้น มนุษย์จำเป็นต้องผ่านประสบการณ์ความเจ็บปวดและความโศกเศร้าผิดหวังอันเกิดจากการใช้ชีวิตในสังคมสมัยใหม่และรัฐสมัยใหม่เสียก่อนการทำความเข้าใจความรุนแรงในมิติดังกล่าวจำเป็นที่จะต้องเข้าใจแนวคิดอื่นๆของบาทายล์ควบคู่กัน เช่น ‘หลุม’ ‘ประสบการณ์ภายใน’ ‘โอกาส’ และ ‘การแตกออกจากภาวะปกติ’
